Dan and Shannon Maloy

#0575809

As college students, our lives were both radically changed by the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, or Cru. Christ got a hold of us, and we've never recovered! Dan became a follower of Christ at 18 at Marshall University when a student involved in Cru, with a heart for evangelism, explained the Good News of how he could be reconciled to Jesus. Shannon's life was radically transformed from a life of living for self into a life of living for God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, when a Cru staff member at UNC took her under her wing.

Since graduation, we've served with Cru in various field capacities, in Central Asia, Lebanon, Argentina, and Ecuador. We became a husband and wife team after falling in love on our first joint assignment in Lebanon. Since then we've given the last 12 years of our lives to taking the Gospel to college students in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina.

Now, we are excited to share that once again we'll be impacting those regions of the world where we originally felt called to; the Muslim world of Central Asia and the Middle East. We will be doing so through a Cru ministry known as Unto. Unto is Cru's humanitarian aid ministry which seeks to relieve suffering, restore dignity, and reveal hope to people living in the toughest places on Earth. This aid accelerates spiritual movements everywhere by helping Cru staff members and their partners gain access, gain credibility, and increase effectiveness in ministry. In other words, Dan will be helping mostly Cru staff in these countries dream of ways to use humanitarian aid to open doors that would otherwise be closed to Gospel proclamation.

Yet we'll also continue to impact college students as Shannon has agreed to take on the role of both recruiting college students to Unto mission trips as well as recruit and set up networks of campus staff in order to expand their movements on campus by inviting non-believing students to participate in domestic and global humanitarian efforts on and off campus.

After doing mostly proclamation ministry for the last 17 years, Shannon and I are excited to see what happens when we combine the Great Commission with the Great Commandment; to love our neighbor. We know that humanitarian aid apart from the Gospel means nothing  in the eternal scheme of things, but in the service of the Gospel, this aid can open people's ears to the Gospel who would otherwise have nothing to do with Christ.

Yet our new work to help reach the unreached is a partnership between God, us, and the team of people who joins with us financially and prayerfully to make this ministry a reality. We are thankful that God would allow us to be part of His work!

Personally, we love traveling, good food, learning, discussing movies, and tennis, and feel that God has equipped us with some gifts of strategic thinking, training, leading, administration, and mobilization. We've been married since May 9, 2009. In May of 2015, we joyfully welcomed our first addition to the Maloy family. Hadley Reagan is a bright spot in our lives and loves exploring, being outside, reading, crafts, and her Dad! In February of 2018, God further blessed us with Daniel Grant, Jr. He loves people, getting dirty, and anything involving a ball or tires. In September of 2020, Lincoln Charles, full of big smiles, joined Team Maloy! Chloe Rose, born in January 2023, is the newest and cuddliest addition to our family. We have all readily embraced the blessing it is to serve the Lord together!
